envy, and a secret find!

my oh my do i get rather envious of other blog posts! i LOVE reading about what is going on in others lives. i started reading a fabulous blog by a man living in paris and one of his entries included the following:
making sorbet from blood oranges bought from tunisia and spain
sweet prunes from agen to include in morocan casseroles
eating a cheese called langres

um, agen? is that the most exotic place that i have never heard of? blood oranges from tunisia, sounds perfect. a cheese that i have never heard of and i love cheese? ahhhh, all of this was too good to be read! and it makes me think about how i want to buy unique food. and create amazing meals. and then write about it. so my goal next week is to do this. i can only dream and dream and be envious for so long, ya know?

on a side note, for the past year and a half i have been using my grandma's wallet. i found it in her purse in her closet when we were organizing her things after she passed away. the wallet is beautiful, a very worn in olive green leather with lots of secret compartments. she had a picture of my grandpa and her tucked away and i kept it there. i searched and searched the wallet for more of her things but didn't find anything. over the past year i have added tons of stuff to this beaut of a wallet. last week, i was searching in one of the compartments for a gift card and i pulled out a piece of paper. it had my grandma's handwriting all over it. mostly numbers as she was subtracting, probably to balance her check book. her handwriting was so distinct. i couldn't believe i hadn't noticed it before. it is now folded around the picture of them. oh man do i miss her.

I have to confess, I keep a note that has my grandma's writing on it. It makes me feel her right next me and remember her too.
