I love that I am married to a boy that talks about books like this (in a Skype):
Steven: i just read an interview with wild beasts and it prompted me to buy books
Sara: oh!
Sara: what books!?
Steven: i bought a memoir by the poet HD based on reading about it from wild beasts.
it sounds like it's really interesting and i think you'd really like it too.
it's about her and ezra pound's engagement that he called off, and it's basically her diary and some early poetry of his that was given to her and she's one of my favorite poets so i think it sounds lovely
Steven: it's like a story of their love
Steven: then i got some of the roland barthes books i've been wanting, empire of signs, a lover's discourse, and the pleasure of the text
Steven: then i bought a book by the french writer celine called death on the installment plan
Steven: i think the barthes books are all pretty short.i told you about lover's discourse recently, and the pleasure of the text is barthes idea about how reading a book is like a seduction
Steven: i almost got a derrida book called the politics of friendship too, i thought that sounded interesting but it sounded pretty advanced
Steven: that empire of signs book sounds really interesting too, it's all about the semiotics of japanese culture, like what signs represent
Love thinking about all of these books that are out that I have never heard of. And that Steven knows where to find them.
