Secret/Garden

This weekend involved some impromptu gardening & yard work. Our landlord came over to work on the front and backyard and while she was over, she showed me how to prep beds for planting. While in the back working with her, she pointed out all the various things that are starting to grow. Turns out we have a plum tree, raspberry bushes, blackberry bushes, an apple tree, garlic, onions, st. john's wort, & a big brush of small plants that are very lemony that are great for tea. Hello backyard, you are amazing. We are going to plant a ton of veggies and see what happens. In addition to the four beds, we have a large circular plot for corn & squash and a long narrow patch of soil against the shed that is great for tomatoes and eggplant. Eggplant!! In my backyard?!! Needless to say, we are pretty excited. It's a ton of work, but it feels really good. Even picking up sticks for over an hour and sneezing ever step of the way.
