Memory #19
When I was 16, my friend Katie and I went to San Francisco for Lilith Fair. Katie's uncle lived downtown and picked us up from the airport. I had a gigantic suitcase and he had the teeniest miata. We somehow managed to get the suitcase in the car but I had to hold on to it so tightly so that it wouldn't fly off on the interstate. I remember being ultra embarrassed. Katie's uncle spent most of the week at his boyfriends place so we had his apartment all to ourselves. There was a rooftop deck and I was in love. At nite we would walk down the hill to Castro street and spent hours walking around. I think we ate a lot of ice cream. The most vivid memory I have is walking by this little fruit market every day, with the most beautiful flowers to buy. I hadn't ever seen a little shop like that. Lilith Fair fulfilled all my dreams, until we left and got lost and Katie's uncle couldn't find us for an insane amount of time, about 3 hours. That was the worst. I was scared to death and Katie was just pissed. On the flight home I sat next to a boy that went to Stanford. It was love at first sight.
