Memory #6

One summer I watered plants at a garden center. 6 days a week, 6 hours a day. I thought there was something very romantic about watering all day. Still kinda do. I loved how quiet it was, how pretty all the plants were. Inside the garden center we sold lots of fruits and veggies. Some were pretty exotic (for Iowa). I loved walking up and down the aisles. My favorite turned out to be all of the varieties of plums. When the corn was in season, I spent my mornings unloading it and then stripping away a little layer at the top to check for bugs. I think of that time often. How having all that quiet time gave me great ideas. How truly loving your work is one of the best gifts.
