Nights

The Year of Magical Thinking changed the way I read. The way I process information, the way I take time to relish words. That book, I tell ya. Extraordinary. My fascination with memoirs started shortly after finishing it. And now, six years later, Joan Didion's new memoir is out. And I really can't even describe how I feel. I placed Blue Nights on hold at the book store down the street. And picked it up last nite. I haven't been this nerdy in a while, butterflies, almost panicking at the thought of holding the book in my hands, being able to pick it up whenever I want to read it (after wondering for so long what even one page looked like!!).

Last week I took Thursday and Friday off of work. We had a trip planned but we weren't able to go at the last minute. So I decided to still take the days off. And it was pretty magical. Walking, walking, walking, reading, organizing, buying sweet things for the apartment, perfecting a pasta dish (turns out it just needs to be in the fridge for four days, warmed up with hot sauce and pepper, who knew!!), finishing season 3 of breaking bad, baking for the first time in our new kitchen, sneaking peeks at Steven.

While walking home the other evening, I noticed this Pieta Brown poster. When I was in college, a boy gave me a cd, of Pieta Brown. And it was one of the best albums I have ever heard. But to this day, I can't remember the name of the album and I have not been able to find it anywhere. Sometimes I think that I just dreamt of these songs, the perfect kind of songs that don't really exist.
