We are home. This was a big trip, in so many ways. Almost to the point where I want to give a really honest account of what I experienced and another part of me just wants to give the big list of all the lovely parts. My mind is kinda all over the place. I blame it on the sun that followed me around everywhere for four days and created over 100 degrees of pure insanity. When we arrived back in town yesterday evening trees had bloomed, the grass had turned the brightest shade of green and the bushes in front of our house had been trimmed back. Today was overcast and chilly. I was in heaven. The utmost heaven. We had lunch with a friend and stopped by the jewelers. We took our bikes from the shed and rode to the library, which we have now been to two times and is so stocked full of amazing books and music that I am in disbelief. Then we had some drinks at a bar on the way home. Rode around the neighborhood looking for for-sale signs. And now I am here, typing. Wondering if I should do dishes, or pick up the living room, or start all of our laundry from the trip. I might just read for a while. That sounds the best.
The first part of our trip was Vegas. We had delicious meals and gambled. The weather was perfect. Then we headed for Indio, California for Coachella, a music festival in the middle of the desert. We have wanted to go for years. We decided to camp because it was soooooo inexpensive. I am not a big camper. I also hate, no! detest! being hot. So needless to say, being outside in the desert for 72+ hours was a bit, how do I say, excruciating. I don't know what I was thinking. I guess I thought the desert sounded romantic. Huh?! But!!! The music was AMAZING! And I saw a ton of my favorite bands. My favorite song of all time is Halcyon On + On by Orbital. On the last nite, Orbital played. We showed up about 20 minutes in to the show. I had no idea if I would hear the song but I hoped with all of my might. We weren't going to stay long because we wanted to see all of Thom Yorke. But I waited for the next song to come on. And it was my song!! Needless to say, I clutched my heart and cried the whole time. It was too magical for words. Here it is for you.
Another little tidbit. The 90's are back in full force. Every girl at the festival was completely decked out in mid 90's attire. Floral everything. Cut off jean shorts. Purses slung over one shoulder crossing over the chest. I think I might need to take out my puffy paints and paint some keds.
It feels way too good to be home. I feel like laying low for a while. Cooking a lot. Writing. Reading. Hiding from the sun. I didn't take very many photos because I was too hot to search for my camera most of the time. I will be sure to post the pics that I did take. I liked the one of the ferris wheel at sunset.
