We woke up at six, then fell back asleep until 9:30. We had breakfast with Adam & Dani and ended up talking for a few hours. Steven and I got ready then set out for a few hours on our own. We had lunch a Bubba's Burgers (again) then had shaved ice over macadamia nut ice cream. We drove past Hanalei, up into the mountains (kind of). We end up at a beach, called Tunnels, and sat under a huge tree at a picnic table and read for about an hour. I loved taking little breaks to stare at the ocean. When it began to rain, we left.
When we got home we got ready then headed south of Lihue for dinner at the Beach house, a little of an hour drive. We arrived just in time for the sunset. The waves were really strong. We saw surfers and also a red and white sail boat. We took a ton of photos of the same scene, catching the start of the moon in the last few shots.
We were seated at a large round table at the end of the restaurant, in a corner. The floor to ceiling windows were open to the left and right of us. The sea was very loud, the lighting so dim. We started with sashimi (ahi) then a watermelon salad (greens, onions, carrots, walnuts, gorgonzola, slices of watermelon). I had a wasabi encrusted white fish in a lemon parsley aioli, with long green beans and rice. Every bit was perfect. We ended the meal with a few bites of sorbetto (passion fruit, mango, lime) and went to bed as soon as we arrived home.
